We have 12 excess computers we are giving away. Terms of engagement:

1. Missouri school, library or government agency
2. Take 1, take ‘em all
3. You pickup

These are all Gateway E-series computers, 4 E-2100 and 8 E-2300.
Typically the E-2100s have a Celeron in the upper 2.x speed range, 40 GB
hard drives, and 512 or 1GB of RAM. The E-2300s have Pentium 3.0GH CPUs,
80GB hard drives, and 1.5ish GB of RAM. Most have the Win XP OS
installation keys on the original stickers, and I have install disks and
documentation. All the disks have been wiped.

These machines ran Windows XP fine, but they were made in the dying days
of Gateway (though I didn’t know it when I bought them). I found that
they had components that were pretty clearly intended to match the
minimal requirements of the OS.  For example, Linux, which runs on
everything, was really flakey on these computers. I have no idea how
well they might run Windows 7. Cosmetically they are generally very
good, but with some tape and sticker residue in one area. Mostly they
all “work”, although there might be one or two bad optical or hard drives.

Please reply via comment to this post; first firm commitment gets them. I can hold
them for a week or so if you need to arrange for a pickup.
